DownTown PUBlic is thrilled to welcome veteran saxophonist Jason Weber, a cornerstone of the Southern California music scene with over 30 years of experience. Originally from the Chicago area, Jason has released 11 solo albums and made numerous guest appearances on other artists’ recordings. Known for his relentless schedule, Jason performs more than 300 shows annually, both with his own group and as a sought-after freelancer for various artists and bands.
Jason’s musical journey began at the age of nine when he first picked up the saxophone in fourth grade. His passion carried him through high school and culminated in a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from the University of Wisconsin in 1994.
Before making Southern California his home in 1997 to further his music career, Jason led an award-winning contemporary jazz group in Southeastern Wisconsin. His debut solo album, 1st Avenue, garnered national recognition by advancing to the final round of Musician Magazine's 1997 Best Unsigned Band Contest, ranking in the top 25 out of 3,000 entries.
Upon arriving in Southern California, Jason quickly established himself as a versatile and talented performer. His ability to master multiple genres, from jazz and rock to funk, pop, and R&B, makes him a top choice for live performances and recording sessions alike.
